Etsy description generator

Etsy search reads descriptions, and so do buyers deciding whether to order. SpeedList writes the description from the product photo, together with the title and 13 tags, so the three say the same thing. Edit any sentence, then publish.

What a generated description contains

  • An opening line that names the product and its main use, in the words of the title.
  • What it is made of, its size or fit, and the colours or options.
  • Who it is for and when it is given or used: the occasion, the room, the season.
  • Care, personalization or processing notes when the product calls for them.

Why the first lines matter

Etsy shows the start of the description on the listing page and uses the description when it matches searches. Buyers on a phone see a few lines before Read more. The generated text puts the product and its key phrase in the first sentence and keeps the opening short.

Rewriting descriptions across the shop

Sync your shop and open a listing to generate a fresh description, or select many and use bulk edit: add a paragraph at the start or the end of every description, find and replace a phrase (an old shop name, a season, a price), or delete a line from all of them. Each change is saved in SpeedList first and published when you are ready.

Your standard paragraphs

If every listing ends with the same shipping and returns text, add it once with bulk edit, after the description, to every selected listing. A template can carry description text too, for new listings that should all start from the same wording.

Descriptions for digital items

For printables and other downloads, the description doubles as the instructions: file types, sizes, how the download arrives, and what the buyer may do with it. Generate from the preview image, then add the file details to the whole batch in one bulk edit.

Written with the title and tags

One generation writes the title, the 13 tags, the description and the category attributes from the same photo, so the phrases match. That is what Etsy’s guidance asks for: a description that backs up the title rather than a second list of keywords.

Questions

How long should an Etsy description be?
Long enough to answer what a buyer would ask: material, size, use, care, shipping. A few short paragraphs. The first two lines carry the most weight, because they are what shows before Read more.
Can it write descriptions for listings already on Etsy?
Yes. Sync the shop, open the listing, generate. Nothing changes on Etsy until you publish.
Does it use keywords?
It uses the phrases from the title and tags in natural sentences. A list of repeated keywords does not help on Etsy and reads badly.
