Etsy listing templates
Most shops sell a handful of product types, and every listing of a type shares the same category, shipping profile, processing time, variations and half the tags. A template captures that once and applies it to any number of listings.
What a template holds
- Category and its attributes.
- Shipping profile, return policy, processing time, weight and dimensions.
- Variations with their prices, quantities and SKUs, or the rule to keep each listing’s own SKU.
- Tags, materials, styles and production partners.
- Title and description text, personalization, renewal and the other listing fields.
- Photos and videos to add to every listing, such as a size chart or a care card.
Empty means keep
Any part you leave blank in a template keeps what the listing already has. A template with only a shipping profile and variations changes only those two things on every listing it is applied to.
Applying it
- 1Create a template from scratch, or capture one from a listing that is already set up the way you like.
- 2Select listings anywhere: Studio, a project, or listings synced from your shop.
- 3Apply the template. Each listing shows as changed, and you publish when ready.
SKUs stay yours
“Keep each listing’s own SKU” is on by default. Variation grids from the template take the listing’s SKU rather than the template’s, so a batch of 80 shirts does not end up sharing one code.
Questions
- Can a template change the category?
- Yes. When the category changes, the old category’s attributes are removed so Etsy accepts the listing, and the template’s attributes are applied.
- Do templates work with bulk create?
- Yes. Generate listings from a folder of photos, then apply the template to the whole batch before publishing.
- Does applying a template publish anything?
- No. It changes the listings in SpeedList. You publish when you are ready, as drafts or live.
